Mad Music Monday

You are beautiful my sweet, sweet song
You are beautiful my sweet, sweet song
You are beautiful my sweet, sweet song
And I will sing again
You are so good to me
You heal my broken heart
You are my Father in Heaven
You are so good to me
You heal my broken heart
You are my Father in Heaven
You are beautiful my sweet, sweet song
You are beautiful my sweet, sweet song
You ride upon the clouds
You lead me to the Truth
You are the Spirit inside me
You ride upon the clouds
You lead me to the Truth
You are the Spirit inside me
You are my strong melody, yeah
You are my dancing rhythm
You are my perfect rhyme
And I will sing of You forever
You poured out all Your blood
You died upon the cross
You are my Jesus who loves me
You poured out all Your blood
You died upon the cross
You are my Jesus who loves me
You are my Father in Heaven
You are the Spirit inside me
You are my Jesus who loves me

This is most definitely my Mad Music Monday song of the day. This is my all time favorite Contemporary Christian Song! I was introduced to this song by the band that plays at my church. I immediately fell in love with the song! When I finally got it on CD, I practically wore the CD out listening to it over and over. My daughter, Allie, loves this song to. There just seems to be so much emotion that this song sparks within me each and every time that I hear it, even if it is the 15th time (in a row) that I have listened to it. It is an amazing song and I love it! The words of the song make PERFECT sense! Love it!!!

Favorite Friend Friday

My favorite friend for the week: Melanie

Melanie Long Coffey is my favorite friend for this week. Melanie and I got to know one another when we were in high school. Melanie was one year ahead of me in school, but that never mattered. I can not remember exactly how Melanie and I met or even became such good friends…(Mel if you can remember..will you please refresh my memory). I just remember that we became best friends in no time at all. Melanie was just like a sister to me. It got to where we were always hanging out. Melanie was driving a few months before me so she was always coming to the other side of the county to pick me up so that we could all hang out. Melanie was always there when I needed a good friend too. She had a sense of humor that always made me laugh. I will never forget all of the good times that we had. We did many things in our time that we look back on now and wonder what we were thinking and why we did what we did…dangerous stuff indeed! We kept the roads hot between Murphy, Hayesville, Hiawassee, and sometimes Blairsville. At any rate, we were always there for one another and I always cherished her friendship.
Again, not sure what happened, but we ended up not being friends for a long time. I was sad, very sad. Quite a bit of time went by before we became friends again. I was glad that we were friends again, but I felt that we would never be the same. We never did get as close as we were before the big blow up…and that always made me sad. What made me even sadder was to know that while we weren’t friends, we both went through some very hard times where we should have been there for one another. I wish that I could go back and re-do whatever it is that we did to break up our friendship during that period of time. (Mel..if you are reading this and you remember what happened to hurt our friendship, will you please help me remember…)
Sometime back in 2001, I joined classmates.com so that I could re-connect with many old classmates. I was very excited when I saw that Melanie had subscribed too. Well, as a member I was able to send messages to others to try and get in touch with them. I sent Melanie a message and she replied. I was soooo excited. We kept in touch via email on a daily basis. When Kevin and I got married, I sent her an invitation. I knew that she was expecting and may not be able to come all the way to Sylva, but I thought that I would try. I was ecstatic when I saw her at the wedding. This was the first time that I had actually seen her in years! I wanted to put everything else on hold and just stand there and talk with her for a while. Well, she had to leave pretty soon after the wedding was over so I was not able to even chit chat with her. After the wedding, we lost touch. I tried to email her but I could not get in touch with her because the emails kept coming back to me telling me that there had been an error in message delivery. I was devastated. I wanted so badly to be back in touch with her! Well, I kept trying and trying and could not get a hold of her. Finally, devastated, I gave up. I knew that she had probably had her little girl and was very busy anyhow.
This past Christmas I was going through some old cards and addresses when lo and behold that I came across her mailing address! I immediately sent her a Christmas card and put my contact information inside the card..in hopes that she would get the card and get in touch with me. Well, in no time at all, I got an email from Melanie. I was so flippin’ happy! We emailed one another and got back in touch in no time at all. It is just like we never lost touch! Although, I am sad to say that I have not yet met her 3-year-old daughter, Sydney. Melanie is an incredible friend that I love dearly. We share so many wonderful memories that I will always carry with me no matter where I go. I feel that we have lost contact too many times…and I want to make sure that it does not happen again. I feel that God keeps putting us back together for a reason…even if the reason is just so that we have one another’s awesome friendship.
Melanie…thank you so much for your awesome friendship! Thank you for taking the time out of your busy life to get back in touch with me.

Favorite Things Thursday

I have so many favorite things...where to even start.

1. Burger King's Large TURBO coffee - I love this coffee. I am normally a Starbuck's kind of girl...but since I have found the turbo coffee at Burger King..OMG that is the best stuff I have ever had! The cool thing is the "turbo" part of it. When they first came out with this, I wondered why in the world they were calling it turbo or regular. So, one day, I asked. They told me that it had extra shots of caffeine...woohoo! I was all about that! Now, I make my regular stop in to school every morning and here lately I have been stopping in the afternoons after school just for that extra "pick-me-up" that we all need at the end of a day of work. If you are a big coffee drinker, you need to try this coffee!

2. Surprise visits at work (school) from my husband - My husband is such a sweetheart (most of the time). He hardly ever makes any stops to see me while I work...and normally it is only to drop Allie off or to tell me something because he could not get ahold of me. Well, he knew that I had been feeling horrible the past couple of days (sick) and so today I am in my classroom working after school and I hear my outside door open..only to see him walking in. I was so wowed! There was no reason for him stopping by, just to check on me and sit with me for a little while. He really made my day today. I needed that after the crazy day that I had today!

3. Hand-me-downs: Today a friend of mine at work brought me some really cool clothes for Allie. Her daughter is about 7 and she was going through some of her clothes that she had grown out of and wanted to bring them to me. That was the sweetest thing! When I got them home Allie just could not wait to tear in to them. They are so darling. Lots of cute clothes that will get lots of good wear!

4. Take-Out: Well, it is not a normal thing for me to love "take out" food. But, this week I have felt horrible with a yucky cold that has left me without a voice. We have really come to rely on take out the past couple of days because I have not felt like cooking dinner. Ahh...thank goodness for take out.

Tell All Tuesday

Tell All Tuesday...hmm...what to tell.

Okay, I know that most of you have done this and I thought that it was the coolest thing...it was even cooler to get to read all of your neat information!

Four Jobs I've Had:
1. Papa's Pizza To Go - I started working at Papa's Pizza to Go when I was 15 years old. I was sooo bound and determined to get out there and make money..I wanted my own car and wanted to be able to buy my own things. So, at the age of 15, I started working at the hot pizza joint in Hiawassee. Well, at the time it was the one and only pizza joint without having to drive all the way to Murphy to Pizza Hut. Now, it is a different story. Anyway, I took orders in person and on the phone, ran the registers, worked the window, made pizzas, did dishes, made subs and salads, baked bread, etc...lots of little jobs..but I did a little bit of everything while working there. It was a lot of fun. I met some of the greatest people ever while being given this opportunity. I worked there for six years. When I finally decided to move to Sylva instead of commuting to WCU every day, I had to quit. It was a sad day to have to leave that place..lots of good memories.
2. Harrah's Cherokee Casino - Yes, I worked at "Harrah's Cherokee Smoky Mountain Casino..Your Biggest Nights are Happening Here"...yeah, right! That is what we ALWAYS had to say when we were the Celebration Hosts and had to talk over the LOUD speaker so that everyone in the Casino could hear us. Oh, by the way, I was a Gaming Host. If you have ever been to the casino, I was one of the hosts that wore green..yes, we looked like Gumby..but it was one of my favorite jobs of all times. As a gaming host, we filled up the machines with money, paid jackpots, kept our customers happy, etc.....we were the main people on the floor. It was a lot of fun b/c you got to meet so many different people. It was so cool when we were able to share the exitement of a big win! What was even cooler was when they would share the wealth by giving huge tips..like $100.00 tips! The only downfall to that was the fact that we had to pool the tips. We got paid every two weeks...so one week we would get a paycheck and the next week we were getting our tip money. It was nice! We usually brought home an extra $200.00 or so every two weeks in tips. It was cool! It was very good money. But, it got to where I was taking some difficult classes at WCU and had to put my school first...Many Tango 2's (my supervisors) wanted me to quit school and go as high as I could with the Casino...there are many days when I wonder why I did not stay at the Casino..It was a fun job. One of the things that I do not miss about the Casino is all the smoke that I had to work in. Blah...it was not good for the asthmatic in me!
3. Univeristy Inn - I worked at the Front Desk of the University Inn. This is the motel that is across the street from the backside of the University. It was cool b/c I lived in an apartment at the Inn so I was constantly walking to work. It was only a hop, skip and jump from my apartment. I loved this job. I was able to meet cool people that came to stay at the hotel. I was also blessed with working with some really great people while there. Fun times!!! I was able to do all of my school work while sitting at the desk. Easy, but fun job. This is also when and where I met my hubby Kevin. OOhh...another good story for Tell All Tuesday....it's a good one! Wow..I already know what I will write for next Tuesday!
4. Fairview Elementary - I am currently working at Fairview Elementary School as a fifth grade teacher. I LOVE my job. I really do love my job. The kids are wonderful little stinkers..but I love my job. I love knowing that I can and do make a difference in the lives of these children. I love knowing that these kids, well most of them, look forward to coming to school everyday. I love knowing that they just can not wait to come to school so that they can share something with me. I love it all! We never know what these kids have had to deal with the night before or even that very morning before coming to school to be with us. I want to be there to brighten a day that needs to be brightened and teach these kids all that I possibly can!
I also love the people that I get to work with each and every day...especially you Lo! I could not ask for a better working environment..people wise. We could use some walls though!

Mad Music Monday

Okay, I know..I have got to stop getting behind. Not enough hours in the day. But, I don't want to miss out on any of the cool themes...so I will back up to Monday.

One of my favorite songs that I want to share with you is Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield. It is fairly a new song that, at first, I was not too excited about. But, the more that I listened to it, the more I really grew to like it. The words of the song make perfect sense. Plus, in the last three weeks I have learned many life lessons that I never really knew that I would have to learn. These lessons have made me a stronger, more independent person. I have always been pretty independent but there are some things that, over time, you become dependent upon without thinking about it. Over the last three weeks I have learned that your life can be turned upside down and inside out within a matter of minutes. I have learned that just when you think things are going great, the rug can be ripped right out from underneath you. I have also learned that the people that you love the most can be the ones that hurt you the most. I have turned to God many times in the last 3 weeks and thank goodness for Him!
The song Unwritten has really made me think more in terms of my life and the way that I will become more independent with certain aspects of my life.

Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield
I am unwritten, can't read my mind, I'm undefined
I'm just beginning, the pen's in my hand, ending unplanned
Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find
Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your innovations
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten
Oh, oh, oh
I break tradition, sometimes my tries, are outside the lines
We've been conditioned to not make mistakes, but I can't live that way
Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find
Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inner visions
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten.

Favorite Friend Friday (catch up)

Lori "Flodoodie" is my favorite friend for this week!

Lori is just incredible in all that she does (as any of you reading this already know)! I could write a couple of novels about Lori and how wonderful she really is..
Lori and I first met when I was an Intern at Fairview Elementary School, oh, back in 2000. I was getting ready to graduate and had no idea where I would land with a teaching job. So one day Lori walks in to the classroom that I was teaching in and asked me about where I wanted to teach...and at the time I really did not care! I just wanted a a teaching job and it did not matter to me where I was. She asked me to come and talk to her after school that day. I really did not know why in the world she wanted me to come and talk with her. My cooperating teacher and I pondered on the idea for the rest of the day. So, the end of the day came and I anxiously went to Lori's classroom to talk with her. She then told me of a position that would be opening up for 5th grade the following year and she had heard good things about me and she wanted me to consider applying for the job. WOW! I was stunned. Here I was...talking to someone that I did not know and she was wanting ME to apply for a job so that I could teach with HER! Wow. I was flattered, stunned, excited....and scared-all at the same time! (Scared because I had never been given any experience in a 5th grade classroom!) So, to make a long story short, I applied for the job and got it. Yay! Lori and I got to know one another and by the time school started she and I were already great friends. Over the past 6 years, Lori and I have shared many wonderful memories...and she has been the greatest friend ever to me! No matter what...Lori always makes time for those in need. Anytime I have ever needed someone, Lori has always been there. She is TRULY a gift from God. I tell myself quite often that God knew exactly what I needed when He put Lori and I together at Fairview!
I am truly grateful to have Lori as a best friend to me. She is lots of fun to be around and teach with. Thanks Lo for everything!
Oh, and she is also my favorite friend for the week because she introduced me to blogging and invited me to join in on all the cool blogging that she has been doing! Thanks Lo! This is fun!!
