Yay for South Beach!

Okay, so today is day 7 of phase 1 for the South Beach Diet for me. I have tried this diet a few other times :( with no success. Well, I thought that I would wait and try it when I got out of school for numerous reasons and lo and behold if I have not been able to do much better. Phase one is quite strict and I think that is why I never did so well on it before. I never had enough time to plan it out and stick to it because of school....and now that I had some extra time to get used to it and try different things out, I have been able to do much better. It was hard for me the first couple of days to resist the things that are a big no-no, but, it is working out well for me now because I don't even want them..most of the time. The point of phase one is not to totally kill you, lol, but to help you get rid of the cravings that you have for the bad fats and bad carbs. I always thought before that this diet was just like Atkins (it soooo is NOT)...it is NOT just a low carb diet. It is much better than that! Anyway, I am so proud that I have lost 7 pounds in the last week on this diet. I am going to start working out today in hopes that it will increase the amount of weight that I lose over the next seven days. You are only supposed to stay in phase one for 2 weeks, but if you so choose you may stay in a little longer. I can not speak for how i will feel one week from now, but if I feel as good as I do today about it, I will stay in another week!!

Things I Love Thursday - April 12th

THINGS I LOVE THURSDAY

1. SPRING BREAK - Okay, yeah, and I know that you are probably saying to youself...well, who doesn't? But I must say that this Spring break that I am right smack dab in the middle of was well needed and it is being quite kind to me!
2. Aerobics - Yes, I said it...aerobics. I went to my aerobics class last night and I just want to say that it is very exhausting and it really makes me hurt, but it is a good hurt...is that an oxymoron or what? LOL. At any rate, it is a fun and motivating way to keep in shape!
3. Random acts of kindness from Allie - She has this thing where she just randomly comes up to me and gives me a hug and tells me that she loves me...it is so stinkin' sweet. I love that gal. She is all the time writing me little notes saying "I love you mommy. Love, Allie". I have to keep each and every one...so I always just add them to my stash under the bed. I usually keep one with me in my purse just to pull out from time to time so that I can be reminded just how much I am loved and needed by that little girl.
4. Blogging - Can I just say that it is so relaxing to be able to sit here and blog with my buddies..I like being able to express myself while also hearing what everyone else has to say too!
5. McDonald's Vanilla Ice Cream - LOL, yeah, it is the absolute best...so I think! Yummy....I am weak for ice cream anyway, much less McDonalds vanilla!

Life Lessons to Ponder

Lessons In Life To Think About...

As we grow up, we learn that even the one person that was not ever supposed to let us down probably will. Maybe we become too confident in that one person and the fact that this person is the one that we rely on for everything, including guarding our feelings...maybe that is why it is so sad when they do let us down...becuase that bond of trust that we so strongly had has been slightly altered...
You will have your heart broken probably more than one time and it is harder every single time...no matter what we think or what we are told, a broken heart is not easier the more times it is broken...I think it is harder each time. Maybe this is because we *think* that we learn from previous heart breaks and mistakes so that it never happens again, only to find out that it does and there was nothing we could do about it.
You will break hearts too, so remember how it felt when your heart was broken...go easy. No matter what one may say, all hearts and feelings are fragile. I think many times karma will come back and bite, sometimes even harder than you bit in the first place..so be careful.
You will fight with your best friend.
You will blame a new love for things that an old one did. This is so hard *not* to do when you have walls up that you are trying to let down...and trust that you are trying to gain or regain in a person...you know familiar territory and you automatically will relate that familiar territory to the territory of an old love and what he or she did to you...just be careful NOT to jump to conclusions...
You will cry because time is passing too fast. It is inevitable that no matter what you are doing there is always another stage in life *ahead* of you that you so desperately want to get to...not stopping to take the time and enjoy the time that you are currently living in and the stages that you are living through...Don't wish your life away.
You will eventuallly lose someone that you love. Death is inevitable and it will eventually hit home with each one of us...taking someone that we so desperately love...and there will always be that one thing you should have said or that one thing you should have done for that person or with that person...and it is too late because he or she has been taken from us...Live each day as if it is your last...don't let things go unsaid or undone.
So, take too many pictures, laugh too much and love like you have never been hurt because every 60 seconds you spend upset is a minute of happiness you will never get back.
Don't be afraid that your life will end-
Be afraid that it will never begin!

Just yesterday (Easter) I went down to Georgia to see my family. I always love doing this because I love my family and miss being able to hang out with all of them together, the way that we once did. Well, we also were blessed with a visit from my first cousin, Chad. He came out to my mom and dads and we all just sat around and talked about "old times". Man, there were some things that we talked about yesterday and "remembered" that I never thought that I would remember again! We talked about some of our funny times, scary times, and sad times. It was so much fun being able to reminisce about old times with these people that I love so dearly.
My cousin Chad Sisum and I became very close one summer and we hung out all the time. He admitted to me yesterday that he hung out with me that summer so much because of my best child hood friend, Amy Garmon. She had come up to Hiawassee from Atlanta to pretty much stay the whole entire summer with me. So, she was involved in most of the fun and excitement that we got in to that summer.
Some of the things that we remembered were the time that it was just Chad and I (we could not remember where in the world everyone else was???) but we were staying at my mom and dads and we were watching the movie IT by Stephen King. Well, it was on up in the night/early morning and we decided that we needed a pack of cigarettes. Well, we went through the change stash at my parents house and took enough money over to the Huddle House in Hayesville to buy a pack of cigarettes. We were oh so desperate. I remember that plain as day. That is also the night that I met my future boyfriend, Jon Reinhardt. He was hanging out at the Huddle House that night when we arrived to purchase the cigarettes.
We also thought back to the times that we ran off to the Cliffs in Blairsville. Charlene and I never did jump off the ropes and into the water but for some reason we apparently pressured Robbie into jumping, with floating devices attached to him so that he would not drown. Jeez. The memories that we all hold together...
It is oh so nice to be able to look back on all those times and think about how UNsafe many of the things were. I truly miss so many of the days that we all hung out and got into trouble or did many things that we could have gotten into trouble over...but many of the things that we got in to were not all trouble. We had loads of fun...and I miss those days. I wish that I could go back and relive many of the days and times that we lived through..it was so much fun...and you never really realize all of this until it is over and you are looking back on the memory of the event.

Favorite Friend Friday

Favorite Friend for Friday: Allie Trantham

Let me just tell you a little bit about my favorite friend this week. She is awesome. She is special. She is precious. She is sweet. She is kind. She is funny. She is caring. She is smart. She is respectful. She is a great friend to me. She is also my wonderful daughter.

Allie is coming right up on being five years old. Yes, friends, my friend for this week is a four year old little girl....but she is not just any ordinary four year old. She is my most favorite four year old ever.

Allie has been away most of the week at my parent's house in Georgia. I took Allie down to their house on Monday afternoon so that she could attend Vacation Bible School with my mom and dad. Well, last year when she went to stay with them for VBS she came home on Wednesday because she was homesick. Well, I kept waiting and waiting on a call and never did get one. Finally my mom called me on Thursday while I was working and told me that she would be bringing her home on Friday morning as she went to Asheville for a dr appointment. I was so excited that I was going to get to see my Allie earlier than Friday evening at Commencement. I could hear Allie in the background but I could not talk with her or we just knew that would set her off to thinking about home...so I quickly let my mom get off of the phone. Well, last night when I got home from our softball game, my phone rang and it was a call coming from my mom and dad's house...and it was about 10:30. Uh-oh...well, when I went to answer it I heard my mom's voice on the other end. Yay...but then she also went on to tell me that Allie was very tired and getting a bit homesick...but, Allie was bound and determined to stay. I would have gone after her right then and there but she wanted to wait and see me on Friday morning when mom was going to bring her. She was trying so hard to be a "big girl" and stay all week...and she has done it folks! Here it is Friday morning and she is coming home! I am so proud of her.
One of the things that my mom shared with me was so sweet...it touched my heart deeply. On Tuesday night they were coming home from Bible School and Allie asked my mom, "Nana, do you have a picture of my mom at your house?". Mom replied, "Yes, I have lots of pictures of your mommy at my house. We will find you one when we get home." Allie replied with, "Ok.". Then, mom said that a few minutes later Allie said, "Nana, I don't want a picture of my mommy...I want the real thing." Knowing my daughter..and knowing her expressions and the way she would look and sound when saying this...it just melted my heart. She is so precious. I have missed her like crazy all week long and I just can not wait to wrap my arms around that tiny little girl when she gets here!
Allie is my wonderful little side-kick that I just love so much! She and I do so many fun things together. I am thankful and blessed to have her in my life.

I LOVE to be organized.

I must start out saying that before getting in to the ranting and raving I am about to start up. School has been out for 2 weeks....2 weeks since we have last had children in our classroom. Most teachers at our school have been finished just as long as the students...and I want all of you to know that I am still not finished wrapping up the year. I have taken on bigger projects than I anticipated. It all has to do with being organized...I really scare myself sometimes with how organized I want things to be....at some point I think I just need to let it go....but at the same time I want it all to be perfectly organized when school starts back in August...AAHH!!

Well, when we got off of work they had shut it down early due to rain or something like that...thank goodness for that! Who knows what bungee jumping would do to a pregnant woman! Glad I did not have to find out!!!

The song that I am posting for Music Monday is a song that I was introduced to by our Awesome band at church. I had heard them sing this once before...and fell in love with it then. Well, then last Sunday I heard them sing it again in church. I immediately got this song for myself to have so that I could listen to it over and over and over again! Wonderful song!
